lyrics
by this time next year, it'll be a different kind of pain
one you know, and one you fear, it'll hurt like hell all the same
I heard it smells like roses getting softer everyday
by the time I'm ready to go, I'll be long gone anyway
I fixed my eyes long ago on things with x's on the front
to cover up pride and say goodbye to true love and beginner's luck
I think I lost my purpose, at least I lost what it's in
I've been trying to gain some weight, last time I checked, I was pretty thin
I'm still pretty thin
I used to like running back and forth across the line
till I finally put my head down and I embraced this troubled life
I began to smell those roses clean and pure and unrefined
the black smoke that once clogged it has turned to air
and I'm doing fine
even after all this, I have yet to feel redeemed
like those weeks after church camp when the lord up and leaves
but this is my grand transition, the most confused I've ever been
I hope I finally make it.
